Miranda Appleby

Locality: London, United Kingdom
Summary: Since graduating with an MA from the Courtauld Institute in 2004 I have worked in a number of arts administration and curatorial roles in London, New York and Scotland. I have just completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Museum and Galleries Studies and I would like to gain further employment in the field. I am confident to undertake a broad range of administrative and curatorial roles. I can successfully handle multiple priorities, work with both internal and external contacts and to strict deadlines. I have often been the first point of contact for visitors, colleagues and clients. Particularly I have enjoyed working on touring exhibitions and in roles with a broad curatorial remit. I have worked in a variety of institutions including the National Gallery of Canada, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Dover Street Gallery and the Edinburgh City Art Centre. I managed the two year tour of the 359 piece exhibition Hand, Heart and Soul for the City Art Centre and used skills learned at the Guggenheim to liaise with a variety of internal and external colleagues from three tour venues, couriers, lenders and insurance companies. Similarly I have undertaken research on behalf of a variety of exhibitions. I researched the works displayed by the Dover Street Gallery at TEFAF and the Paris Biennale and worked closely with the Mapplethorpe Foundation to write all text accompanying Mapplethorpe and Mannerism exhibition merchandise. More recently I have edited, designed and had printed a publication to accompany Calum Colvins latest exhibition.
