Linford Andrews

Locality: London, United Kingdom
Summary: Former South African diplomat, with a wide range of experience gained in a number of countries. Key has been the ability to network and liaise with government ministers and officials at the very highest levels. This has been highlighted in numerous activities over the years, including forming part of the team which organised the State Visit of former South African President Nelson Mandela to Indonesia in July 1997. Currently work as Political Affairs Officer for the Commonwealth Secretariat in London where I am responsible for monitoring political developments, preparing briefs and handling a variety of issues affecting Commonwealth states in Africa (with a strong emphasis on southern Africa). Political analysis and both written and verbal communication have been particular strengths, informing senior officials and laying the foundation for policy development. The need to organise, arrange and manage events, meetings, seminars or the observation of national elections, has also engendered a strong team ethos. These have been exemplified by the organisation of the observation national elections in various Commonwealth states, including Swaziland, Mozambique, Antigua & Barbuda, Malawi, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Kenya. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated the ability to lead others to achieve results in operational and project related activities. I am an excellent communicator, leader and negotiator and I enjoy working in a pressurised and target driven environment. I am a positive, motivated and enthusiastic person and I rise to any challenge both in my working and personal lives. I believe that my key qualities are my excellent interpersonal skills and strong communicative ability, combined with my talent for effective organisation and prioritisation. I see myself as a highly dedicated and strongly driven individual. I would relish the opportunity to use my combined skills in a multilateral organisation or global multinational.
